Hi. What are your opinions on this whistle? Thanks.

I have several ACR whistles that I've used and relied on for years in my PSKs. They're light, well constructed, and ear piercingly loud. Tested on a police firing range, shooters could hear and respond to the ACR driven commands whereas several leading competitors models failed miserably...

I just bought two. They're great. Not much to 'em.

Hey welcome to the forum. You first mission, should you choose to accept it is, since you own a mini fox40 and an ACR, would you mind doing a little comparison? I have been wondering for a while if the ACR is as loud or even resonably close to the fox40. This message will self destruct in 43509867820285.341 seconds.

Here's what that very page says about the ACR compared to the Mini-Fox 40. I quote:

"The reason we really like the ACR Emergency Whistle's flat design, however, is that it's virtually unnoticeable when hanging off a lanyard (included) around your neck, unlike bulkier whistles like the Fox 40 Mini Whistle.

We compared the performance of the ACR WW-3 Emergency Whistle to the Fox 40 Mini Whistle (another backcountry favorite), and here's what we found: The ACR Emergency Whistle requires less air to blow at a particular decibel level than the Fox 40 Mini Whistle. In addition, the maximum db output of the ACR Emergency Whistle is greater than the Fox 40 Mini. We think this performance, combined with the flat, lay-next-to-your-chest-and-not-be-noticed-design makes the ACR Emergency Whistle the ideal whistle for the backcountry traveler."

That would seem to answer some questions. I've seen an ACR in a store and it offers a much flatter profile in comparison to the Mini 40.

On a related note, I have one of these and I'm not sure what' it's called. http://www.foldingkayak.com/Whistle.jpg

If anyone recognises it, can you provide some insight on how it performs vs. the ACR?
