My fire, the Simi Valley is still burning, but no homes have been lost ( the "Little House on the Prairie set is gone <img src="images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />) I've gained a few insights. Just because you personally have not been impacted in a disaster there are many things to do,and more importantly ,not do. The 118 freeway is closed to garantee emergency vehicle access. A caravan of horsetrailers was just escorted through. Siteseers are held about 2 points above arsonists. Alternate routes are bumper to bumper. Looking out my window the 101 looks like a parking lot. Water pressure is critical for the firecrews, so my emergency supplies are being rotated early. My eyes still water from the weekend, nose is running and throat sore. Contact wearers better have glasses. Staying indoors is a good idea, especially children, the elderly and ill. Indoor air filters are receiving increased attention. Our state insurance commissioner was just on T.V.The behavior of insurers after the Northridge quake has brought that industry under sever scrutiny. He advised MAKING A VIDEO documenting your possessions and property. Car Rental facilities are nearly depleted. All airports are at a standstill and people are electing to drive to Arizona. Once again, apologies for a quick draft. I am off to help at the livestock evacuation point.

Disaster prepared is not the only aspect that a BOB or emergency kit should address. Post-disaster preparedness is as important.

Keep safe chris, and everyone else involved in the fires.
