Here is an easy sling to make. The pouch holds the ammunition securely without any interweaving.
I first made one like this based on a book I had when I was a mere youth.

It is a modified sheepshank

After 5 loops (6" long") are made you begin a sheepshank but complete an overhand knot by placing the end of the cord through all five loops and pull tight. Repeat at other end. . The source for the sling is "Whittlin', Whistles and Thingamagigs" ISBN 0-8117-1882-2. Tony

Ammunition? That's a nice sling, but I think cartridges would drop through between the strands. Maybe OK if it was in a box. But ammo would probably be more secure in your pockets than in a sling.

I'm with Haertig...once you have made this, what is it used for?

Should be useful! But did you try it "in the field"? It feels like it could untie itself under a good enough swinging stress.

Because of the layout the harder the sling is used the tighter the overhand knot becomes.

It is for a Goliath size rock. Or a sling for Goliath to kill the Hulk?

Ahhh! I feel so stupid now. I was thinking "carrying sling", like something you'd fill with loose .22LR rounds (ammunition) and sling over you shoulder for transportation.
