I keep this stuff in my survival kit, in a survival situation having a wound dressing that is self steralizing is really handy. The dressing is a silver plated nylon stocking type of fabric. In a survival situation (and the third world) it can be taken off washed in clean water and reapplied. Although in hospitals where they can afford to replace the dressing, it can only be used once.

It is supposed to cut down on healing time, scarring and pain in the wound. It also is supposed to kill bacterial and fungal infections in the wound. It was origionally invented for treating burns and is becoming used widely for that now. Several years ago the VA hospitals were starting to use it for burns as well.

I'm curious if anyone else has used this stuff or heard of it? It is now available in bandaid type strips and adhesive patches. I still have a 4x4 inch piece of fabric in my survival kit though.

Pretty cool. I'm assuming that the reuse is for the wrap and not the bandaid style since the adhesive certainly wouldn't stick anymore. It could be harboring the stuff that oozed out and didn't touch the silver in the pad too.

Maybe Jim can buy some of this since it's not really an "antibiotic" so to speak.

I also have it, didn't know what it was and did. I found that it didn't absorbe blood.

Yeah, just going to send what I have now and send again when I get the rest. Any idea what it costs to mail a simple letter (with a few very thin items in it) from the States? I guess my local Post Office will know.
