I see, much like present day Detroit. But that doesn't necessarily mean society has collapsed. In fact it could have the reverse effect, where folks actually begin to rally together to resolve issues such as a collapsed consumerist economy based on liquid petroleum products and where government doesn't have a role in keeping people in their place (I think they it marshal law security, but a well known radio jock from Austin in FEMA region area number 6 would be able to give you more details ).
