Harbor Freight is just an awesome store. I recommend to anyone that has one nearby to take a visit. It's worth it.

Get there early or get a rain check. Demand for most of their sale stuff exceeds supply. Sometimes by a LOT!

Agreed. During my recent (and yet ongoing) move from California to Pennsylvania, the people at Harbor Freight informed me that U-Haul and the like always come in and clean out their moving blankets when they have them on sale. They buy them for $5 (for small) and $7 (for large), then turn around and resell them for around $14 and $16.

Forget the dry cleaning tag. I've been washing wool blankets for years. Just remember that wool is hair. It doesn't absorb water like cotton does, and it has a fairly short drying time.
Wash with 1/4 cup of cheap hair shampoo.
Use a cheap hair conditoner (1/4 cup) in the rinse water.
Line dry, or dry at medium or low temps, in 10-minute increments. Most blankets will dry in 15 minutes or so, composite (artificial) materials usually in less. DON'T just twist the dial to 40 minutes and walk away, or you'll end up with a hard chunk of felt.
Line drying will give an expensive blanket a longer life. All that stuff in the lint trap used to be part of the blanket.

quick note.....we have some of the 'disposable/one time use' "wool" blankets that we use for patient's. The tag says, "100% Undetermined Fibres" Odd-Lots Made in Canada.
I don't know what it is made from but I do know to absolutely NEVER wash it. There is no real structure to the 'fabric' this thing just disintergrates in the wash!

My 80/20 blankets were washed and dryed today and came out just great! Ivory soap and fabric softner was used on the most delicate wash cycle in cold water & cold rinse. It was dryed in the dryer using lots of the fabric softner sheets and the most delicate dry cycle.

When I asked my mother for old pure wool blankets, I asked her to wash them by following the instruction on customwoolenmills: http://www.customwoolenmills.com/care.htmIt seems to work well.

Has anyone here received any of the $7.99 blankets yet?
If so, how was the quality? My other options are $15 surplus blankets or $25 poncho liners.

I just purchased my second one for $7.99 and got a refund of 4 bucks on the first one, thanks to Smitty!) and yes, in my opinion they are execelent light weight kit or car blankets.
My other choice was the heavy used Italian 100% wool blanket @ about $11 dollars from Cheaper Than Dirt, and others, but the reviews were mostly negative due to the very high shipping cost and the OVERWHELMING moth ball smell that took 3 to 5 very special care washings and line dryings etc, etc, and apparently still lingers. Not my cup of tea.
