I was trying to find a good solution for carrying my BCB survival-tin on hiking trips,
when I realised that a belt-pouch would be the best solution for me.
No hard tins in my jacket pockets and also the opportunity to carry more stuff with my PSK.
So I grabbed an old BCB 'Go-pack' pouch and started assembling:

This pouch is for survival-purposes only! A FAK, multitool and flashlight are part of EDC / Hiking backpack.

Any comments / suggestions / idea's are very welcome!

NIce kit. I ilke the idea of using a belt pouch-- Hard to loose.

You might consider replacing the velcro closure and / or tying the whole thing shut for security.

Knife - I'd replace the knife with something flatter and lighter. Spyderco?

Money - More is always better. A very useful tool.

Back-up firemaking: A small flint, and acredit card sized fresnel lens

First aid --Perhaps a sanitary napkin packed in the middle to stop blood loss

Misc -- Flagging tape 1-2 M, SPF #30 chapstick -- can be used on your nose for sunscreen

What makes Chunky KitKat chunky?

Yes, I have a sweet tooth.

Maybe it's better to wrap some paracord around it to prevent that.

FAK is carried in hiking-kit and as part of EDC.



Good idea!

- Not going to work with a backpack, if you use the hipbelt.
- You can do beter than a kitkat chunky. (energy and nutrician wise)
- 5 euro bil, won't get you anywhere.
- you signalmirror is plastic, not glass. (unless they started to make the same mirror is both materials)
- it's not a P-38 you got there, but a p-51 (p-38 is smaller)
- you flint isn't a fire steel, but a ranger flint. Ranger flint is harder to operate.

- Don't wrap you kit in paracord, try getting access to your kit with one hand...
- get a beter knife
- Make a pull tab on the tape on the tin.
- Get a better tea candle. The long lasting once's or the "survival" candle's.

the mayday signal-mirror from BCB is made of glass.

The ranger-flint fits perfectly in my tinn, so I'm not going to replace that.



There's only so much room in a pouch...



How do you know that this knife isn't good. Just because it isn't a well-known brand like spyderco. (wich I don't like the looks of)

well i reconise the knife as a Buck imitation. Which are generally very poor quality, both the steel used and the construction if the knife. I have plenty of similiar knifes failed on me. Some simply (and literaly) fel apart, one failed during light stress and cut me and others started to get HUGE amount of play, making the bladelock totally unreliable.

Get at least a decent 440C or AUS6 steel knife. Knife's without any mark of the steel used are generally very poor, so is 420HC used in many cheaper knifes.

I thought you meant the Nighthawk-knife, not the knife in the PSK.

The problem is that I haven't found a knife that is small enough and locks. (so no SAK)

You might try either a spyderco (various sizes)or a schrade switch-it.
