Bug Out Teddy

The video is in Japanese and some of the things have dubious survival value but none of the less a good idea to get kids to carry a bug out teddy.

Darn, I was thinking the Victoria's Secret type of teddie that my wife could wear to comfort me in a disaster

Yeah, that's where I was going when I clicked on this too

Back to the topic:

Although I don't have any children at home now I do have 2 young grandsons. I would think it important to make sure they have some type of "warm & fuzzy" things in their BOBs to relieve stress.

That is kinda brilliant. To get everyday people to generally be better prepared, they don't want to carry olive drab military backpacks everywhere. But putting items into a benign everyday carry is a good idea. What are some other objects you could stash things in? Headrest of your car? Your shoe?

Another item mentioned in the Teddy Bear kit was a sleeping mask. That makes sense. When things are stressed and you're not able to follow a regular sleeping pattern, anything that makes getting rest easier is good. I'm a light sleeper and usually carry earplugs to use on the plane or even camping with certain snoring friends. I've never used an eye mask but I can see it being helpful if you can only rest in the daylight. I would bet that displaced hurricane victims in a shelter would use ear plugs and eye masks.

I worked SAR many years ago and someone on the team would always carry a stuffed animal in their pack whenever the search would involve any children. It's a very comforting item for them.

but we could expand on that idea and come up with a list of things to put in one for a child or heck even an adult

I know they did/do sell stuffed animal backpacks

As for sleep, I consider sleep very important. So, my car-bag has a "sleep kit:" mask, inflatable neck pillow, earplugs.

I am putting together a small BOB for my child, so that it has what he needs individually. That way, he could bugout with me, or my wife, or someone else, whatever it took. He is 4 years old, so that has some special considerations.

I'm putting together a necklace with contact info sealed up somehow, a whistle, and an LED flashlight. His bag would have a plush toy he likes and some other toys, some of his favorite snack-foods, etc. Not too sure on details. I don't want to over-do it as I want him to be able to carry it himself, but I want it to cover essentials.
