Hello! I am new to this forum, although I have been reading (lurking?) here for quite awhile. I have learned so much. I had a simple question. Do you know of any high quality key straps to secure keyrings and other items to your belt. I've seen so many cheap ones. Thanks.

You might try a local uniform store that caters to public safety. They will have a selection that will be heavy duty.

Welcome to the forum.

I use a brass Halyard clip with steel key rings.

I have used one of the "toy" caribiners for a belt key holder for years. You can buy they anywhere for a few bucks, and sometimes public agencies give them away for free, with some safety wording on them. Your federal highway safety tax dollars at work.

I do not trust just clipping the 'biner to a belt loop as some do, I run my belt thru the 'biner, then clip the key ring onto that. And I have my keys (and I carry quite a few, plus other little goodies with them) on a pretty large split ring, about 1.5" in diameter. Makes it easier to clip onto the 'biner...

I went to my local locksmith and he recommended this:

Secure-A-Key by Lucky Line. It doesn't move on my belt and it doesn't wear my belt loops.

In Doug's Abandon Ship Bag article, he recommends Gear Keeper by Hammerhead Industries.

I'll second Frankie's recommendation. I've used one of those off & on for years. It can also clip to a waistband without a belt. They also offer one that is not clip-on, but slides onto the belt, for more security.

I third that (Frankies)! I also use the Maxpedition Keyper (tradename). HD and attaches to web gear flawlessly. http://www.batteryjunction.com/makekeyresy1.html

Wow! So much helpful advice so fast! Thanks so much. I'll check out your recommendations. I'll advise later on which one(s) I try and how they work out. Thanks.

I used one of those for years, but stopped after I was crawling thru some stuff one time and somehow bumped the bottom of the thing, dislodging it from my belt. I lost my keys for about an hour (had to back track 'til I found them)...
