I've searched through the forum and haven't found this addressed before, however, if I am being redundant I apologize. My question for the group, as you may guess from the subject, is how to purify water in small containers. I use the Gerber milk bags in my PSK and some MP1 tabs. I don't have a larger container I can pack down to fit in that little vinyl pouch (not knocking it, just trying to get the parameters in). So when purifying water contained in one of those little bags which is substantially less than 1 liter how do you do it safely and reliably? Cut the tablet up? Use the original bag as a seed bag and mix into a second bag and top off the first? Is this even a concern if the tablet to water ratio is off? Are the chemicals too concentrated in the water to be of use or are there some other dangers if they (the chemicals) not appropriately diluted? Thank you to whoever should choose to reply.

"We also inquired about the safety of using the tablet at higher concentrations, in other words, in less than a liter/quart of water, as might be the situation with an improvised water container in a survival situation. We were told that this could be acceptable for short term use. A higher concentration (less water) may result in unpleasant taste or odor. If someone has an adverse reaction to chlorine dioxide in general (which is a rare condition), this risk would increase (similar to the case with those having adverse iodine reactions). However, in an emergency situation, no negative health issues would be expected."

How about using a small container of bleach and an eyedropper to control the application? The amount of unteated water and the condition of the water would require adjustments, no?

Figured it had been addressed. I just couldn't find it. Thanks.

Downside is the shelf life and weight/bulk of the repackaged bleach with a dropper of some sort, vs MP tabs or even repackaged PA tabs.

Couldn't agree more.

I only carry MP1s now.
