We all want fancy gps systems, super bright flashlights, sebenzas, striders, range rovers, omegas and bond girls (instead of sleeping bags). But unfortunatelly we have to settle for the normal budget items... I'm looking for some suggestions as to what give for xmas that is within $20-$30 range and survival related. Example: last year guys on the job got from me a bunch of rescue hooks and some surefire g2s... Any ideas?

Pelican's PM6 LED light is a great light for a resonable price (cheaper than a Surefire G2 but an LED)

Can never go wrong with a AMK PSK <img src="/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

Nite-Ize IQ switch and LED upgrade and a mini-mag light makes a great combo gift. Makes one of the most versitile LED lights for under $30. I have three of these, one at work, one in my large survival kit and a third in my SAR vest with a green LED head. 100% worth it.

I will think about it and add as I can.

Leatherman Micras or Squirts (either are great on a key-chain), boxes of powerbars, pocket FAK's are possible ideas.

How about a ResQMe?

AM/FM/Weather/TV radios to be useful in power-outage situations. During the Allison flooding of Houston TV stations gave much more useful information than did the radio stations even if you couldn't see the picture.

Small power converters that plug into car cigarette lighters? They can run a fan/laptop/small tv or radio.

High quality jumper cables!

Water bottle with built-in filter system?

Emergency cell phone chargers?

Try eating any powerbar type food bars before you buy more & package them for emergencies. I don't remember the brand, but I had one that was like chocolate flavored rubber. Find out if you can stand to eat them before it's too late.
