I just got a food saver this weekend, and so far, so good. I was packing a few items of my PSK, when I thought of a new trick. In te past, we've talked about sealing medicine, but the problem of losing the medical info. I've always carried a bunch of individual wrapped packs of medicine, you know the little foil packs? Well, looking at the instructions for the Foodsaver, you can seal that type of material. I cut a small slit in the top of each of those packs, and vacuumed and sealed them - same wrapping, but now they take MUCH less volume. Yeah, the square is the same size, but they can be rolled up, and stored in a LOT less space!!

Good idea, thanks! I was just sealing up some stuff last night. Guess it's time to open 'em and try again... <img src="/images/graemlins/smirk.gif" alt="" />

I've also been taking a small 2" or so piece of electrical tape, wrapping it over the top lip of the sealed bag (actually sealed twice), and cutting a small slit in it. Makes opening the bag by hand very easy. I got the idea from one of Doug's pages where you can see it had been done:

I don't use quite as much tape as in the picture, but it still seems to work fine. This way I can seal up the sharps in my trunk kit.
