Here are some items I am thinking of putting together to make a water filter small enough to put in my PSK CamelBak:

The Platypus holds 2+ liters of water. I have one rolled up on the bottom of my CamelBak. I could use it to collect water and then use the Sawer Water Filter to pour filtered water into my CamelBak bag. The filter is good for 500 gallons. It weighs 1.75 oz and is 1.75" x 5.5" long.

What do you guys think?

Nice piece of gear...

I use coffee filters that I fold in my small PSK. Once filtered, I use Micropur MP1 tablets to purify the water.

The Sawyer filter is $40 at Sportsman's Warehouse and $50 at REI. It blocks all the nasties except viruses.

if you really wan;t to go small, you could use the platypus with a gatekeeper filter (2 micron filter). Very small and light.

Obviously it's filtering speed and capacity is limited and you need chemicals to purifiy the water...

Bee,

What water container are you using the coffee filters on? How are you securing the filter? Do you think a bandanna would work as well?

Thanks!
