Did anybody watched this show last nite?.
What are your comments?
I don't think it is as good or real as any of Les Stroud "Survivor Man" programs.
Too much posing and unreal situations.

I loved the "special forces way to fall" we called it the PLF. I thought he was a legionaire not British special forces. It had some usable info, but on the whole I prefer Les Stroud. Bear seems to me to be a ponce. <img src="/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />

I think he shows you "EXTREME" things that can be done, def. not things to do first when trying to survive.

If people are watching it to get ideas "how to survive" they may get hurt. I think only under RARE circumstances should one attempt to swim under a 10ft long debri pile, climb 30ft clifts, etc.. def. to many risks. Even his normal activity such as boulder hopping is way to risky for survival situations.

I watched most of it. It was obvious that he had a cameraman with him in case he got into trouble. Personally, I thought he took way too many personal risks for a single person type of survival. He was jumping from rock to rock like a mountain goat when scooting down would have been safer. If he was by himself, what would he have done with a sprained ankle or twisted knee? Swimming under a deadfall when you don't know if you can get through is better than squirming over?? It seemed like he prefered taking the hardest way to get something done. The average Joe trying to follow his techniques in a similar situation would probably not get out alive. Did show the value of having a spark rod and knife for fire starting. Sensational tv, not much more.

I watched the show last night and found many of the things he did very risky for keeping yourself alive and well. I did notice that after the show they offered a chance to chat with Bear live to offer ideas and ask questions. I did not get a chance to do this because I have to record everything on my DVR if I want to watch it. That would have been interesting to see.

What he does seems very staged and dangerous. Swimming under a tangle of driftwood was about the DUMBEST thing I have ever seen. There was about 5 minutes of real content in the total show. So I decided to take is as any other entertainment, with a gain of salt.
I did get on his chat and I think that you could ask a question but they were not answering any of the real people logged on. I looked at the name of the person asking a question and then compared that to the list of logged on people and they did not match. So I think even the questions were very stagged.
What he does could not be filmed without staging it.

cheers

I see that the "elders" are quiet today, careful to give or not to give a stamp of approval to "Bear"

I think that the "show" was just that, a show! Devil was lucky he didn't "land" after dark! Instead of P...ssing on his T, he'd have P...ssed on himself!
