I've recently purchased this at my local outdoor-store:

Just asking for confirmation: is that a P-38? <img src="/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />
Thanks

Jim,
It is a copy of a p-38, but I don't think it is an original. Don't know if it will stand up to abuse like a true p-38. I lost mine off my key chain in the past few days, so I have to replace it. I usually buy several at army surplus stores for about 40 cents.

Actually the Coghlan is the Canadian version of the P-51 which is bigger (two inch long) than the P-38. I tried it and it works well.

Thats a copy of a P-51. There are two versions of the coghlans copy of the P-51, the one you want is the version with two stripes pressed in to the metal. This makes the can-opener much stiffer and prevent if from bending.

The p-38 is smaller which makes it slightly handier to carry and very handy for prisicion field DIY. The P-51 is much faster and easier with cans, but a little to large for mine filed DIY jobs.

Thanks for you replies.
I think I prefer a P-90! <img src="/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
