Haven't posted lately (been lurking though.... quick look-see each morning before work )

Here is a question that perhaps has not been thought about... it might seem silly or a non-issue at first... but....

If you carry a knife for your EDC, where is it? In your right pocket? Left? Left hip? For the sake of argument let us say you carry it on your right hip and you are right handed.... okay, now put your right hand in your front pocket and pretend your hand is broken, pinned down, missing, whatever... and you need that knife... can you reach it?

The only reason this came to mind was I was working on something where I needed my knife (in my left pocket) but could not let go of what I was holding with my left hand.... I'm not exactly rotund in nature, but it was still a PITA to reach that knife.... especially bent over car grill into the engine compartment. Time to carry two knives!

I carry a couple knives for EDC. I've got a Leatherman Charge in a belt sheath on my right hip, and I've got a folding Spyderco Delica in my waistband, just to the right of my lower back.

Given your scenerio with my right hand pinned down or broken, I have a tough time reaching my Leatherman, but it is perfectly easy to reach my Delica.

I'm right handed by nature. My EDC for work dictates that my Leatherman is carried on my left hip, keys on right to keep things balanced. What I have come to understand is "it's all about learned habits."

I'm right handed. My old style LM Wave is on my right hip in a sheath. My Kershaw Blur is clipped on my belt left side. I love that knife but hate having it in my pocket.

I carry my mini-Rittergrip in my front right pocket, clipped to the outside edge of the pocket (with the clip facing outward adn the knife itself inside the pocket).

I also carry a tiny Gerber microlight LST.

I carry a knife clipped vertically to the edge of my pocket on my strong side as close to the pant seam as the pocket will allow. I also tend to carry a neck knife that can be reach with either hand. Anything down in the pocket is very hard to reach with the opposite hand.

Be prepared through redundancy, carry one in every pocket! Gives you a reason to have more knives. I carry a Kershaw 1660 in my right front pocket, a Buck 110 in a nite-iz with a Mini-Maglite in the middle of my lower back on my belt opening to the left for left handed use. I have a Leatherman Micra in my right pocket on my keychain. In my purse I have a mini buck like knife in the one pouch and on the other side I have a Leatherman PST-II in a pocket with a 2nd Buck 110. In the main compartment I keep a KaBar. I like knives alot.

I carry 2 Enduras-- 1-plain, 1-serrated-- they ride inside my waistband at the front of my pants. I can reach them with either hand. Plus, it makes it easier to get my hands in and out of my pockets.
