We are preppers, but to what extent ???

One question popped in my mind the other day ( dont ask me about the circumestances ) .. The question is : when you plan to a have a baby , I mean the two of you off course, do you think about the season, politics ,weconomics, whatever that may , perhaps in any way make that timing better or worse ???

Example. I read somewhere a few years back that Austalians , I think , were advised NOT to consider pregnancies since 9 months later the grand Olymbics games or some such big event would be held in Australia . Understandably , ambulances and traffic ...etc. would be a bit affected by such events and may turn delivery close to a survival situation.

Not to spoil your "fun", heh heh heh , but its a thought.

Chris, I think you need an advice or two. When the birds start singing in April , dont let them fool you into anything. A female bird will lay her egg a few weeks later, but a human female will be in labor sometime in January, perhaps in the middle of a snow blizzard !!! Anyone prepared for that ???

Call me fanatic ..etc. , but when my DW was nine months pregnant last time, I felt pregnant myself. I mean I was extra extra cautious not to hurt MYSELF in anyway. The logic is that your wife is depending on you in those critical days, and you cant afford to be in bed or on crutches, when she tells you : its time to go !!

Same goes for the car.
Make it extra trouble-proof in that period.

You bet I considered different factors. For example, Oklahoma has some nasty hot summers...humidity off the charts and asphalt melting heat...so the wife certainly doesn't want to be pregnant then...Ok and we can't deliver in Sept, Oct or Nov...deer season Then of course we didn't want our kids to have birthdays in December. My wifes is then and she hates it...so both of my kids have April birthdays...not to hot...not to cold. Time to get her figure back before swim season and not pregnant in heat of the summer. I don't believe I would change a thing.

Your age is also a factor. When I was much much younger - mostly in High School, I was planning at least 5 or 6 pregnancies a day. None of them ever came to fruition - but not for lack of planning - just lack of cooperation.

The possibility if being pregnant in the heat of summer was a factor in deciding when my wife and I were going to try and get pregnant.

We joke that our daughter was calculated on a spread sheet (Excel if you're curious) but my beloved really did sit down at the computer and calculate a" window of opportunity" of getting pregnant and having the birth occur close to the beginning of summer (avoiding the heat with a bun in the oven, and to coincide with my semester off from nursing school.

The plan worked pretty well even with the offspring coming 6-weeks early.

"I love it when a plan comes together"
