If you’re going to take the time and stow something, why not get something that tastes good. I bet you can find a soup mix that would not be much more than this and if you had absolutely no water I still bet it would taste better on the way down.

Dry soup mix is so salty a lot of people will gag on it. It's basically a LOT of the stuff they put in the flavor packs for ramen, and they add dried vegies.

These things aren't horrible, but don't trust them. I'd rather carry mainstays and malted milk tabs.

if you want to add those, they're cheaper from nitropak for the same things

Those tablets aren't bad (yes, I've tried them, kind of like a malted milk ball), and the nutrient content is a lot higher than soup mix, by volume, but it's one of those things you've got to try for yourself, and see what you think.

Thanks,
Another question: do you think it will actually work? I absolutely agree that military rations should taste much better (well, depends on the army as well, of course), but is this option not more compact than standard 24hours ration? British 24 hours ration is really a box of food! These tablets really look like an item for survival kits.
Thanks,

That's it exactly, I wouldn't dream of carrying them for regular rations, but having a bottle in my pack makes me a bit more comfortable about the possability of getting "hung up" somewhere for a while. Plus, I like the taste, and they make good "trail munchies".

Searching will help with this one, it's been gone over before.

I'm not sure if you want this to be your sole food supply, but have you seen the nutritional specs? Each tablet is only 20 calories. A whole bottle is only 3,600 calories. Correct me if I'm wrong, somebody, but that's roughly the energy contained in a single MRE.

So depending on what daily caloric level you want, and for how long, $39/bottle seems like pretty expensive survival food to me. And as muchies? Very expensive munchies... <img src="/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

Yeah, but a bunch of replies were lost before some of the recent computer changes, including some of mine... besides, I don't mind repeating for those that missed it the first time around.
