I dunno, I am quite content with my Leathermen which have done well over the years, esp. the Skeletool, my EDC. Everyone should have a MT, even if it is a Gerber..

The sliding jaw Gerber of old would pinch the palm of your hand well when using the pliers if you were not very careful. While the new ones look cool it appears that they have the handles to close together again when you close the pliers.

The Gerber slide-out pliers have been around for maybe 20 years. They pinched, they were sloppy under stress, and generally looked better than they worked. I haven't tried the new ones, so I'm open to changing my opinion -- on someone else's dime.
I have tried them all, Gerbers, SOGs, and come back to Leatherman each time. They have earned my trust.

Usually I can open the Leatherman handles enough to open the pliers on my thigh or a nearby object.
FWIW I would never turn down a Gerber multitool. They may be less refined, but will get a helluva lot of work done. You can't argue with results.

Leatherman fan as well, I can usually get the wave open one hand (though not as quick as the gerber). Good timing though I've been looking at tools lately to keep in my bag, so far centered around a multi-tool, bit set and teeny ratchet / screwdriver along with some mini vise grips. I'm torn between keeping the vise grips or replacing them with Knipex Cobra XS, have been hearing really good things about them...

Man, I'm outdated. I checked the post date of the link, and I thought, hey, obviously this is a new product!
I sometimes find myself holding something with one hand that I cannot let go of, and I need to open my tool with my other hand only... Looks like they need to work on the tool some more. Some sites seem to do that, I don't know if its just recycling old news/products to get new visits to their site or if they really just didn't bother to research and see if the product "new" to them is new or not. The gadgeteer has usually been a good site in the past, so i wonder what happend there.
