I'd like to think that better communications, such as a PLB, would have had a big impact on this event.

I'm wondering what pistol he had with him used to fend off the bear?

Lots of "what ifs" in this story. I wonder about food storage and general cleanliness and odor control. One must bear down in this area in order to avoid unbearable injuries and pain....

Agreed, there is so little information that it's hard to discuss this in a meaningful way.

We have to bear in mind that practicing poor camp hygiene can be as detrimental as losing one's bearing in the wilderness. But I agree with you all that without more information, we just cannot fish for the full story. So I don't feel there is more we can say -- I'll get back to reading my novel, Milan Kundera's Unbearable Lightness of Being.

Ah, so, the night sky constellations now include:
-Ursa Major
-Ursa Minor
-Ursa RoyallyHadUs

Big Country requires Tall Tales. And when the whiskey flows, the tales rarely grow smaller ... grin

Edit: Can anyone account for the whereabouts of Sacha Baron Cohen during this time period?
