I can also drop the roll of duct tape. In a survival kit or a day hiking kit I usually have a 5 yard flat pack of duct tape which is a useful amount. Otherwise you get a mish-mash of equipment which is a little first aid oriented, a little camping focused and a little tools/fix it oriented...

I think that is a fairly accurate description of the bag I maintained for SAR, although it was heavier than average on first aid.
