Maybe this should go somewhere else, but I can't quickly find another thread.
This is a free ebook/download on Survival and Austere Medicine:

https://1776patriotusa.com/survival-austere-medicine/

I quibble about the assertion (no reference given) that medicines really "expire" or lose potency, or become toxic over time (aspirin).
As presented elsewhere, expiration dates are mainly a legal way for the pharmaceutical companies to get us to buy more of their product, and ensure steady income for their company and stockholders:

https://www.health.harvard.edu/staying-h...xpiration-dates

Some strengths of the book include the broad array of topics, experience of the international contributors, and being unafraid to list specific brands of recommended bags/kits, etc.

I'm saving copies to my phone, laptop, Dropbox and printing off a hard copy.

Another free download: The Air Force Pararescue Medical Operations Handbook: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_FZMjvNvbVNVDZZSEludmc3bXpXTzNvZXJ2SEdvQmVMaktZ/view

This book is for providing care under adverse and remote conditions. For the usual folks the PJs fly to, it is understandably light on pediatrics and female medicine.

It does reflect the TCCC (Tactical Combat Casualty Care)doctrine, of interest to some here.

Edited by the host and medical director of the USAF PJs, and host of the PJ Medcast (a podcast). The 5 part podcast interview with the guys who orchestrated the Thai Cave rescue is especially memorable

Yeah, some other folks in other situations have also had good reason to accuse me of creating additional work for them as well; It's just a gift, I guess. . .

With this series of posts, I see I have now graduated from journeyman to member.

For those who are trained/experienced medics:

http://moljinar.com/page6/files/Austere%20Medicine%20Books%20v2.doc

This is a list of reference texts for practicing 'austere' medicine - without power and many of the tools used in modern medical environments. It has been used by missionary and disaster response medical teams.

Compiled by a physician with hands on work in disasters.

Doctors Without Borders (MSF) has their publications on line for free as PDFs; Their Clinical Guidelines-Diagnosis and Treatment Manual is also available as an iPhone and Android app:

https://medicalguidelines.msf.org/viewport/MG/en/guidelines-16681097.html

Also available at no charge are their clinical guidelines for obstetric and newborn care, essential drugs, TB, cholera, measles, and public health engineering (need to set up clean water, sanitation for 20,000?)
