I hope our present regime doesn't notice the ever growing peril of SWD's ( Swiss Army Knives of Mass Destruction.) Those bicycle units would be a tough foe for Humvees in narrow mountain passes. <img src="/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Saunterer,

That model should come equipped with wheels. <img src="/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

You mean I can order the scales for any SAK out there?

But of course. You can contact Victorinox directly and get replacement scales. They even ask you to call them for instructions on how to do it yourself. (Just pry off the old ones with a small screwdriver, place new one on and lightly tap on with a rubber mallet. Or that's how I do it.)

Copied from www.swissarmy.com FAQ:

Q. Must I send my knife in to have the scales, toothpick, tweezer, and scissor spring replaced?
A. No, you can purchase all of these right here. To learn how to replace scales and scissor springs, contact our consumer service department at 1.800.442.2706. -SA

Now if you don't mind a little shipping charges and want to get different scale colors then check out these websites:

http://www.swiss-knife.com/EN/SK/handles/Victorinox_handles/h_91mm.html

http://www.pizzini.at/shop/index.html?lang=en-us

Personally I'd like to see a stay glow set of scales that accomodate the pen and pin for my Champion.

Yes, as in DIY, no need to have the Coroner come out.

Some of the new SAKs are quite neat. Ever since I went to Switzerland I've started a little collection of them, they're fun to have. Great PHRASECENSOREDPOSTERSHOULDKNOWBETTER. knives, even the largest SAK's arn't really intimidating. I have a Swiss Card Lite in my wallet that is amazingly usefull and I carry a Sportsman often for a PHRASECENSOREDPOSTERSHOULDKNOWBETTER. knife and because it has a corkscrew/ sewing awl (which my Wave doesn't have). I have been giving them as gifts along with Leathermans. They come in handy.

I wouldn't mind owning a Hercules which is 110mm with glow in the dark scales but they don;t make them in that size. Oh well I will settle for the blue ones.
