This is a fun thread to discuss signs that you are overequipped.

You can't buy a new first aid kit until two months from now and you are counting down the days.

You donīt complain about the number of shoes your DW has because you do not want to draw attention to the fact that your pocket knives outnumber the shoes.

Someone at the office asks to borrow your knife and you ask: folder or fixed blade?

I am not going to contribute to this thread, it will make me think too much.

Overequipped is when you have seven first aid kits (home, car and EDC) and you have plans to buy or make at least two more.

If you think you need a trailer to haul your EDC, you might have gone beyond the bare essentials.
For some people it starts at carrying a small SAK though.
So there is a wide margin.

A trailer and a pickup truck, is that too much?

I have some minimalisme / low consumption tendency, so not really that over equipped. Found that having too much is annoying. Too much to keep track off, too much to renew, too little space left. With a alpinist background making due with what you got mentality helps.

You make a great point. Survival situations almost always involve limited resources and/or capabilities and one almost always has to improvise and think outside the box, something that is routine in climbing situations (and often in other outdoor pursuits as well).

If you have all that stuff it is not a survival situation. It only becomes one because you don't have what you need.
