Just saw a prepper who added a full trauma kit carried around his waist; concealed and lumpy.

At some point, just get a bag - a laptop case, fanny pack or backpack. You will have more room.

I dare say that with enough experience, this person will eventually do just that. Some things take a little time.

When I began in the outdoors, it took a while before the light dawned, and I got a decent pack....

One of my friends keeps a full trauma kit in an ankle rig. He wears it every single day, whatever he's doing. To my surprise he's been doing that for well over a year and other than minor adjustments it seems to work for him.

I keep a TSA-safe trauma kit in my laptop bag among several other places.

...even a small laptop bag and I can carry water, a jacket and a cell battery. And extend my comfort by 2-4 hours...

Or if possible scale down the trauma kit so you CAN fit it somewhere on your person

Hmm on the other hand any excuse to get a new bag is a good one whistle

Maybe this needs its own thread, but what do you consider a complete trauma kit? What would be a bare minimum trauma kit? I know what I think of when these terms are used, but I would like to see what others think.

That all depends on your level of training. A basic comprehensive FAK exceeds the skill-set of many. OTOH an ER doctor or EMT have much more extensive skill-sets.

Training and likely injuries in the environment. A lot of kits focus on penetrating injuries, like gunshot wounds with massive bandages, tourniquets etc. Most of my experience has been with fractures, esp. legs, in the wilderness. Hence lots of splints, etc. and emphasis on less obvious trauma (massive internal bleeding, less obvious spinal injuries, and the like.

A good kit should include a stethoscope, BP cuff, good bandages, at least a splint or two (although these can be improvised). Tourniquets and the like if you are around firearms and other mechanisms that will induce penetrating injuries. A C collar will be useful.

In any case, monitor and record vital signs and transport rapidly to definitive care

It absolutely depends on your skill level!
