So you are only allowed to stick you arm inside a bear if YOU are in the militia, the bear is in the militia, or (wait for it) ...

does it have no bearing?

Well, if he didn't have a bared arm before he put it downhole, he had a beared arm afterwards.

Having a hard time imagining what a gagging bear would look like. Not sure I'd care to repeat the experiment to find out, either.

Would we call this scenario the "bear gag"?

I read about an old guy that killed a jaguar in a similar manner; he was being mauled so he jammed his arm down the cats the throat, and apparently managed to rip out its tongue. The cat bled to death. Not the best approach but better than nothing.
