I'm in the market for a new light, and need some suggestions. I currently use the Fenix LD12.

I would like to find something similar, but brighter. I want something in the $80 price range, decent balance between throw and flood, low, mediuk, and high settings. If it runs on AA, that's a plus but not necessary.

What you recommend?

0.2 lumens min for 360 hours, 280 lumens max for 1 hour and other levels in between. I have one and it's a very good light. $.02

Nitecore SENS CR might fit the bill if using primary CR123 Lithium Cells.

Get a headlamp. They are far more versatile.

This is the model I have (Zebralight 502) and I like it a lot - maximum of 260 lumens - variable brightness - and extremely light (runs on one AA battery). If you don't want to use it as a headlamp (and there are occasions when you definitely don't), it carries nicely in the hand or clipped to a shirt or belt. Zebra light has lots and lots of models - it is like picking French wines....

Actually there are about a gazillion really nice lights out there - the variety available today is quite amazing.

I recently bought a NiteCore SRT3 and think highly of it. It will run a single CR123A or a single AA. I don't know anything that's as bright and as versatile at your price point. The Quarks are very good -- I have a number of them -- and smaller than the competing NiteCores.
