I'm looking for some Information/opinion as to the current middle east crisis now ongoing. How serious is this US military attack on Syria going to get and what preparations are others now currently making.

I have currently been looking online for remote Holiday cottages this evening in the middle of Scottish Highlands for availability for a temporary BOL in the next week or two.

I am getting some bad vibes about what is currently going on.

A remote cottage in the Scottish highlands sounds great, go for it. [redacted] Personal opinion -- not going to happen. I could be wrong.

The rhetoric is looking much better with each passing day.

We may discuss preparations that you can take if there is military action or other unpleasantness in the area. Please take care to not so much as refer to the politics of this issue in any way.

I suspect that if you're not currently located in the Middle East that you're unlikely to see any significant effects from the current and potentially impending unpleasantness. Personally, I'm quite fond of the Scottish Highlands and I would cheerfully join you there if I could.

Nice edit. The comment that was redacted was unnecessary -- my apologies.

A multi-week walking tour of the Highlands (however unsteady it may become) is on my bucket list.

I would note that asymmetrical attention-seekers look for recognizable events and locations that have maximum media value. The simplest strategy is to be elsewhere, but that doesn't mean an uncharted island in the far Pacific; a mile of elbow room, with the prevailing wind in your face, covers most of the list.

My 2c.

it is difficult to predict what will happen in the ME and Syria. I think that the American president is scheduled to address the people on the subject this coming Tue night (Sep 10). If the US does strike Syria, I am not sure that reprisals will be directed at the UK. After all, the UK Parliament voted not to get involved. It seems plausible that terrorist reprisals could be directed at US or French interests.

The ME has been slowly filling up with powerful weapons for a long time. I am actually surprised that peace has prevailed there for as long as it has - considering all the possible triggers that could lead to a new war. Whether Syria will be that trigger is anyone's guess.

I agree that your Scottish highland cottage sounds very desirable. Hope you have some vegetables and a few sheep :-)

I am sure it would make a suitable BOL, but I recommend you check it out now, just to be sure. As for the plight of the middle east, I wouldn't lose any sleep worrying about what may or may not occur. Just be prepared.
