Oatmeal lovers unite! What's your favourite recipe? Non-cereal use?

As cereal:

-add brown sugar, cinnamon and milk
-add maple syrup, peanut butter, chocolate
-add dry or fresh fruit, raisins, berries, nuts and wheat germ
-crumble a granola or cliff bar on top
-mix with hot chocolate instead of water
-add a little instant coffee
-add wood sorrel (or other herbs and spices) black pepper, etc. to make a savoury oatmeal

As a non-cereal:

-add a pack of flavoured instant oatmeal to bannock and pancake mixes
-add to meatloaf and hamburger beef mixtures instead of bread crumbs
-use as coating on fish instead of standard batter

I'm sure you foodies have a bunch more, so let's hear 'em!

Instant oatmeal packet + big scoop of peanut butter + one packet of hot chocolate + hot water. It's part of a good breakfast before a day on the trail.

1/2 cup rolled oats plus milk - heavily laced with any of several nuts (walnuts, almonds, pecans) plus either fresh or dried blueberries (1/4 cup) and raisins (1/4 cup). there is enough added sugar in those garnishments to sweeten the oatmeal quite adequately. Chocolate or cocoa sounds tempting - I must try that, as well.

I eschew those wimpy (and expensive) dinky little packets and get my oats six pounds at a time in the big, big box.

I use oatmeal in my meatloaf. Aside from that I loathe oatmea and won't touch the stuff.

I hear you - but oatmeal is both healthy and dirt cheap. If you want it to actually taste good, you need the additives.

Banana Oatmeal cookies
2 over ripe bananas
1 cup quick oats
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp ginger (optional)
1/8 tsp salt (optional)

Mix all together. Use a spoon to drop, flatten and shape into cookie shape on PARCHMENT PAPER covered cookie sheet. Bake for 15 minutes at 350.

This is my new favorite sweet snack since I learned I was allergic to wheat.
