Pack of cards and a Kindle Touch.

The Kindle is eInk and the battery lasts for weeks. I also have a mobile phone with music etc, but its battery, while fine for day to day use, wouldn't last long enough to use for entertainment in an emergency.

In a pinch I think I could make a backgammon board and improvise dice. Backgammon is the best board game. (Maybe I should add dice to my BoB; they don't take much room.)

Deck of cards, flashlights and mini harmonica.

Pencil, paper and coins (ground and stick?) to make a tic tac toe/checkers board (use coins for X's and O's/checkers.)

I don't carry anything in my BOB but my secondary pack which is an extended BOB/INCH has a ziplock baggie with a small checkers set and some playing cards.

Looking for a tiny card games rulebook - haven't found one anywhere despite the mighty Google. Anyone know where I can get one? Thanks!

Search for "Collins Gem Card Games" on Amazon or eBay and you should find what you're looking for.
