I am wondering if anyone has seen this item: Power Pot
It generates power while cooking. I don't usually rely on electronics in the woods, maybe if they have interchangeable batteries, but some might find it useful. Standard disclaimer, no affiliations.
This one generates power from the heat, not the other way around. I have no real interest in this thing, someone just pointed it out to me. I agree with Doug, I am not sure how durable it is. I will never rely on an a piece of electronics that I can't replace the battery in, and I usually don't rely on those either.
Thermoelectric devices can be very reliable (think deep space probes) when designed and constructed properly AND the operating conditions are within limits.
Overheat a device such as this just once (let it boild dry) and it is toast.
