Foot sacks (if that's the correct term). Will keep your feet much drier (and therefore much warmer) when stomping about in the snow. Skiing boots will get wet if you, say, dig a snow cave or for other reasons are stomping about for any length of time.

Sorry, I don't know about any online sources or retail outlets that would be available in the U.S.

What you could try is skim through the Helsport list of distributors: http://www.helsport.no/en/DISTRIBUTORS/
Helsport is a small, but reputable Norwegian outdoor brand. Hard to get hold of outside Europe, I would think.

If you REALLY want these pairs PM me and let's see if we can arrange something.

You could also try to make your own. It isn't exactly rocket science. The footsacks should have a loose fit, with two or three draw strings (elastic cord is a good idea).

I have some relatives in Finland, so I will try there first, but thanks. I really wanted to see what they are made of and do they have any insulation. There are other overboots out there, but they do not pack small. Even if they only serve to keep the feet dry, they are worth a good consideration.

Yesterday I added a hard plastic case with four single-use tubes of Krazy Glue to my and my wife's BOBs. I'm very unlikely to use this for wound care, but I can think of any number of non-fleshy things that might need to be glued.

Recently I added spare glasses from one of the online opticians.

Those foot sacks look like they solve a problem I know I've had. I'd love to get a pair.

I recently mounted my brightest flashlight (4Sevens Maelstrom X7, 480 OTF lumens) onto my new shotgun, and now I have an urge to find a flashlight with 500+ lumens OTF. They're out there, but I'm trying to resist getting one now.

No insulation. Water proof rubbery material on the bottom 4" or so. Water resistant very thightly woven materian on the upper part.

When stomping about in snow, basically any bag you pull over your boot will keep you substantially warmer - insulated or not.

Don't underestimate the cooling effect of snow on boots! Melting snow will drain heat from your foot. Snow will stick to your boot and find its way between the laces. And unless your boot is very water proof you will get wet. Most skiing boots and many trecking boots are not anywhere water proof enough for prolonged stomping in the snow.

The benefits of these is that they pack relatively small, are water proof on the lowest part and very water resistant on the upper part. I can't vouch for the durability (yet), but I know plenty of people who owns a pair of these and no complaints so far.

It is also very easy to improvise some insulation for these foot sacks. Carve out a sole from an old cell foam ground pad. Or cut out and stitch together something from an old fleece blanket or sweather. That way you can also use these as "camp boots".
