Lots of great references, I personally like the way the WMI one is organized for NOLS.
Wilderness Medicine Institute - National Outdoor Leadership School I suppose it goes without saying, but, I'll say it anyway. Any of these books will be far more effective if you take appropriate training to go with it. NOLS, AMC, SOLO, etc all run WFA, WFR, WEMT classes that will make a HUGE difference in your ability to deal with situations in the wild. Most of the courses on First Aid, and First Response by places like the Red Cross are great if you find someone within the 911 EMS range. They are designed to essentially stabilize someone until help can get them to a facility. Wilderness medicine gets into longer term scenarios. Very interesting, and spending a weekend, or a week in the field learning is a tremendous experience.
