Fox River makes a few different models of fingerless ragg wool gloves. I've tried them in some local stores and they seem solid.

I have found their lightweight Glomitts to be very nice. The heavyweight Glomitts are too bulky for my taste. I have a pair of no-name lightweight glomitts that I got in 1998 and still use to this day.

After seeing them all over Victoria last weekend, I picked up a pair of polartec glomitts yesterday at an Eddie Bauer outlet sale, about $12. Everything is a compromise, but I like the combination of fingerless gloves for writing, and mitts when you're not.

This is my third winter relying on Duluth Trading Glomitts. Have bought several pairs to make sure I can always cobble at least one together at home and in the car. I have several far more expensive gloves but the Glomitts are my go-to 90% of the time (except when biking, making snowballs or needing dressier).

Now on sale for $16.99
