Did this handle wrap with some blaze orange paracord on this plastic knife handle to enhance the grip and visibility of this boat knife. 3-turn turks head with 5 passes of paracord, three tan and two blaze orange. The lanyard includes a tan paracord bead so this can be used in two ways, thumb wrap or wrist wrap. Sorry if PC/photo colors are off. The "pegs" for the turks head were done using paper clips with the technique I posted about before.

Love the crazy wrap. But maybe this post belongs in Campfire? Just thinkin' out loud.

BTW, has anybody put this boat knife through its paces? I saw one in a blister pack, for a very reasonable price, and I confess I was drawn to it. Something about unabashed functionality, design for function first, no tacticool BS or hype. What do you think?

P.S., how do you get the chum juice out of the paracord?

That has got to be about the strangest knife design I've ever seen. But the paracord wrap looks nice.

makes sense about the forum placement; sorry.

this knife belongs to a friend in Alaska. I'm not sure the extent to which he has tested it. I'll ask.

chum juice? should I even ask??

I'm guessing that the blade shape and with all those funky serrations is optimized for slashing and cutting rope, webbing and the like. Makes sense for a marine rescue / emergency knife. Haven't tried anything like it, so I have no idea if it works or not.

thanks a lot fellow man-knotter!

regarding the funky shape, I gather it has function for scaling fish and cutting rope as mentioned. It won't be this pretty for long, but it will certainly hold up (of that I'm sure)!

Forgive my ignorance, but if it's a "marine knife", presumably in a moist environment, what's the sense of a paracord wrap?

greatly enhanced grip over the slick plastic handle this knife comes with. sailors have used knots like this for maritime applications for centuries.
