Most of it was a dissertation on nearly all of the various ways of purifying water, except for my favorite technique - boiling. I found this very puzzling because he did pull out a very robust cook kit and stove that could boil enough water to float a battleship. I am a little surprised that he did not cover firestarting (maybe I blinked and missed it) and to bring out a mylar sheet and call it "shelter" leaves some serious deficiencies in a good many situations.

Interestingly, he feels a compass is very important (and it is, although rarely necessary in terrestrial situations) but he makes no mention of a map, a far more necessary item.

I would make different gear choices than the ones he chose (did MSR sponsor this show?), but there was nothing really bad (other than the claims for tea tree oil), and it was actually good advice for many people. Better than nothing, but there is a lot of room for improvement.

I like his touching faith that a "carbon filter" will work as well as he claims. I would appreciate comment from others who have more knowledge in this area.

If he does not store his carbon filter's in their original bags unopened they will be useless when he needs them. Also while some of his info is good the overall mood of it is just creepy its like a skinny gay Dr Phil Showing his mother (who is wearing what can almost be called a night gown) his camping gear more then emergency gear. Some of the gear like the Kelty redwing and MSR stove is great but the rest just seems like cheap garbage. The way he explains EVERYTHING like what a ace bandage is for just makes me feel like my IQ is dropping while watching it not to mention how the lady has to fondle and "use" everything he takes out like shes got OCD or somthing.

That was my impression of it as well.
