Recently started carrying the Brunton on daily hikes to try it out. Works great even at 100+ yards (@90 meters). Obviously not binoculars, but the clarity is amazing from such a tiny instrument.

A purse is a purse. Call it what you will, it is still an unmanly purse.

Men wore purses on their belts for hundreds of years, and called them such. We're reclaiming the convenience.

I've carried some kind of bag since the 70's, and every lady I've had a relationship with just wanted to know if I had room for her wallet so she didn't have to carry a purse or bag at the fair/expo/whatever.

"Manliness" comes from inside, not from what you're wearing. smile

My girlfriend does not think my purse is unmanly. That's all that matters.

Plus, the flashlight and whistle I carry around have proven their weight in Platinum on a few occasions. :-)

As I am sure they have. That is why mine are on my EDC key ring. I usually have backups and other assorted goodies in my briefcase, which has duplicates of many of the things that my wife carries in her purse - no lipstick or eyeliner, though - just manly items like FAKs, Clif bars, and emergency ponchos.

What about Nessmuk's ditty bag complete with sheath knife?

Ok. PSK and EDC----- the two acronyms that are used the most here, that I still haven't figured out. And yes, I KNOW there's this huge list on here somewhere of all the acronyms... but that'd be too easy! (my guess: personal survival kit and ....?)

I opened this thread up because I've been thinking about ditching my traditional purse for something like a messenger bag... but the messenger bags tend to be bigger than I want.

I cannot STAND how fabric purses feel, I prefer leather or fake leather, canvas=NO WAY.

I like zipper closures, but can only ever find those on fake leather purses.

But anyway. I love purses. Man purses and woman purses alike.

Hopefully I will find the perfect bag to replace my purse. I can't stand the thought of have to look for and grab my purse in an emergency. I've even sat the thing down in stores and grocery carts, then had to go looking for it! I really really need to get a bag with a long strap that can be permanently and comfortably attached to me!

The messenger bags are too big for me too if we're talking everyday all day. I'm 6'2" 200 lbs.

What you want is out there somewhere. It's funny though because I've searched the Internet and can't find what I bought for myself for Christmas 2009.

I can see myself carrying one of these:
