I will be practicing bugging out up in the Jocks Road area for 3 days next week. Do I take a lightweight single man tent (Lightwave zr0 cylq) which weighs 1.3kg or a Goretex Bivi (British Army) and Goretex Basha sheet which together weighs 1.6kg. Happy camper or hardened bushcrafter? wink

I would think that either of your choices would be fine. I myself would go the hardened bushcrafter route.

BTW, that is some great country in the video link. Although I live in some of the best pacific rain forest / coastal mountain areas of the PNW, I still much prefer the wide open low mountain countryside like what is seen in the video.

I feel like in a bugout situation the bivvy would be better.

Why carry more weight to be less comfortable? bring the tent.

One advantage of a tent is it protects you from bugs.
Another advantage is modern tents come with their own poles and set up very easily.

I don't think you have to train to be miserable, that sorta happens depending on circumstances.

Go with the tent.
