So, it's a RAK (Roman Army Knive)?

Actually, I anticipated seeing, once I got to the web site, something like an Achuelian hand axe, some hundreds of thousands years old, used for cutting throwing, pounding, raw material for smaller tools, etc.

This tool has been mis-labelled. It's actually a shoehorn with accessories.

Clever romans to include a spoon and fork centuries before the invention of spaghetti. It pays to be prepared.
I refer to my bottle opener as my 'Irish army knife'.

But they are on opposite ends of the same tool - obviously why the Romans died out

Looks handy.

Goes to show that the requirements and desire for compact but effective utensils haven't changed much in 1800 years.

I'm guessing here but I suspect that you had to be fairly rich to afford such a fancy bit of kit back in 200AD. Pulling that out in an encampment in the day people would stand up and take notice. Lots of uber traveler camp cred. A real status symbol. It might be like pulling out something like a light saber today.

Thanks for posting this.
