I was reading a thread the other night about someone deploying to Haiti. Sorry, I couldn't find the thread or I would have put this there. Anyway there were comments about various tools to bring and people had comments and complaints about their multi-tools working with cat6 , UTP and phone connections. I just want to make you aware of an option.
(No, I don't work for this company or have any connection with them.)
Paladin Tools sells a SOG multi-tool modified for communications under ther name. It's set up for 110/66 punch down, UTP stripping, crimpers and romex work among other features.
I saw it at a electronics tech fair and it seemed like a fun tool to add to my travel bag just in case.

This link is for one of four models they sell and they list local distributors on their site. If you do this type of work this might simplify what you're bringing.

Oooo.... I have not done any comm wiring in years, but I still want one. blush

Incidentally, I have done a fair amount of cable stripping, splicing and crimping, even some punching down, with a plain-jane Leatherman too... whistle
