I carry two; a Spyderco Navigator and a Spyderco Salsa. I also keep a fixed blade Myerchin rigging knife in my laptop backpack with my other tools.

Just one: a Victorinox Rambler.

However, if I wear a hip pack, I'll toss in a Leatherman Wave or T.R.U.E. multitool...or - very, very rarely - a Kershaw/Ken Onion Leek.

Just a micra when I go to school.
Otherwise, a medium-sized SAK (2 blades, corkscrew, awl, can opener/small screwdriver, bottle opener/ medium screwdriver, toothpisck and tweezers)

I used to carry a wave on my person, but didn't get much use on the street, so it now travels in my backpack.

When you say "school," do you mean high school, college, or grad school?

What model SAK do you have?

What is a T.R.U.E. multitool? I never heard of it before.

Craig,

I use my Wave all the time. I used to carry a SAK instead but the pliars are really invaluable. Just about everyone in my office wears a multitool, so I would probably stand out more if I didn't wear one on my belt. I had a hard time deciding between the Wave and the Swisstool, but eventually went with the Wave for the one handed blade opening (which I use ALL the time) and the smaller size. The Swisstool is great but is just too large for my tastes.

I don't use the minichamp too often. It is on a ring in my left front pocket with my mini Fox40, compass, photon and magnesium flint rod. The main reason I carry it is for the tweezers and the pen, although the small phillips comes in handy occassionally since the philips on the Wave is much larger. I actually use the small scissors every so often also. And sometimes a small blade is more appropriate for a certain task than the larger ones I carry (plus the little gut hook box opener is just cool!) <img src="images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Take care!

Greg

You actually use those tiny tweezers? I like Uncle Bill's Sliver Grippers much better.

What kind of office do you work in that everyone carries a multitool?

The T.R.U.E. multitool is a sub-3 oz model sold in the U.K. I did a review of one for backpackgeartest.org that you can read here.

I work at a University in the Environmental Health and Safety group, where I am in charge of the radiation safety division. We cover several campuses and a hospital, and you never know what you are going to have to do around here. I have used my multitool for everything from opening packages to fixing a radiation survey instruments to tearing apart large pieces of scientific equipment in order to recover radioactive sources or lead shielding. They come in very handy in this setting, which is probably why everyone carries one, even my boss, the Director of EHS, and he is more of a coat and tie person.

And yes, the tweezers on the minichamp aren't the best, but I have had SAKs around so long I am really used to them, and they are handy to carry around that way. I suppose if I were to look into a better option I might prefer it, but I don't use them very often, and I have better tweezers in my FAKs, which are usually nearby.

Have a great weekend!

Greg
