living in Texas, we've got our own grid and are "insulated" (for better or worse) from others, but having lived (Camoapa, Nicaragua, 1976-77) where electricity was an occasional thing (you never knew when it would be "on"), the systems that we've got, despite this very significant failure, are very good and it's amazing that we haven't had more problems (they're coming)...
