I've looked all over the internet and I can't find a simple plastic card with CPR instructions on it. Any ideas, links or URLs?

This one may work if you want to print it out. The idea is some untrained good samaritan will open my wallet, see the instructions, and follow them without training.

I donīt want to spoil your day. But itīs overly optimistic to hope that some person without training will do CPR properly only using this sheet. Around here St. Johnīs has good short instructions on cards in the size of credit cards. However those card are only good as a reminder for people with basic training. The are not intended to replace that training.

better than nothing. That 1% extra preparedness might be the 1% that saves your life.

Is their a way to get the card. I am currently designing my own as we speak.

I have to agree with M_a_x on this one.

There are a lot of things to keep in mind when performing CPR, not the least of which are whether or not the person is actually choking, or whether he has head, neck or back injuries. What if you are not unconscious, but are having chest pains? Are you having a heart attack or acid reflux? Do you want the other guy giving you chest compressions under any and all circumstances? The card is not going to be able to provide any of that info to a sufficient degree. The wrong information could kill or cripple you.

To increase your chances of survival in this situation, I would recommend first that you take good care of your own health so that you don't find yourself as the victim of a choking or heart attack situation.

Secondly, you might become certified as a Red Cross trainer and teach CPR classes. You might also spearhead a community effort to teach people how to perform CPR.

Thirdly, if you are concerned about educating the person that finds you unconscious, you might get something like a Med Alert bracelet and add a note to it indicating that there are CPR instructions in your wallet.

You might have at least a fighting chance this way. Otherwise, I would bet that if the person that finds you is untrained, he will ignore you, wring his hands and call for help (while you assume room temperature), try to copy what he sees on TV (which is a joke), or will take your wallet and leave you to die.

In my opinion, you and anyone else that is in need of CPR or needs to be rescued from choking will receive the best help if as many people as possible are properly trained.

Here's one scenario. I have been injured but am conscious. I give the instructions to the only person in the situation with me right before I quit breathing.

2nd Scenario. There's a huge wreck and hundreds of bodies which need attention. While i'm giving CPR to victims I can give the instructions to a good samaritan and allow them to help others as well.

Although I have been CPR trained for over a decade, have retrained, and performed this task to save a life I think a good set of instructions could help a good samaritan who has never done it before. The instructions I am making show very detailed pictures and instructions.

As to the idea of a bracelet, my CPR pouch hangs on a keychain outside my pocket. I think someone could find quite fast. It does include a card with instructions.

One last thought, I think a small card could help the trained, who have allowed themselves to become rusty, to perform the steps accuretly enough to give me some sort of chance. Though I am healthier than most people half my age there is still the possibility of needing CPR when only the unprepared are around to help.

Moore medical has what they call the FastAid guide. It is a plastic laminated instruction guide that covers 30 medical conditions, including CPR. I build first aid kits for people, some I sell, and some I give as gifts, and I make sure a FastAid guide is in there to back up the book that I include in the kit. Remember, redundancy is a good thing, especially when it is light weight.
Moore Medical can be reached at 1-800-234-1464, or www.mooremedical.com. The item number for the FastAid guide is 53322. I hope that helps you out. Fielddoc

You could try to ask the local chapters of St. Johnīs or the Red Cross for these cards. They usually have good material for training their instructors.

If this link works, it should take you directly to the page at Moore. Apparently the guide has been price reduced to $1.89 plus shipping etc.

Quoted from their site:

"Moore Medical
