I thought it was just a cold. It started as a sore throat, and I figured to give the usual 5 to 7 days to do the throat, sinus, chest rotation as usual. I felt run down, and was struggling to focus all week last week. It never did progress, just stayed a sore throat, no fever, occasional sweats, swollen adnoids and pain. I stayed on tylenol and ibuprofren to keep the pain and inflammation under control, and started pouring on the garlic. On Sunday I went to the doctor and did a swab for Strep that came back negative. They gave me amoxicillin and told me to stay on the ibuprofren. I didn't have much hope for the amoxicillin, but did the dosing diligently.

Last night I looked in the mirror and my neck is swollen around my jowls and the pain is moving into my ear canals and my larynx. Back to the doctor, who concurs that something more is going on. So now I am on Azythromycin(Z-pack antibiotic) and dexamethasone (a steroid). Apparently something got to my lymph nodes in my neck and they aren't liking it. It is sorta like having the mumps, although I had the mumps as a kid and have been inoculated for them about half a dozen times as well. So the bottom line is I am missing three critical days from work and the wife is heading in for surgery this afternoon. Fortunately whatever I got doesn't seem contagious, or she would have caught it by now, but I gotta wonder where the heck did I pick this bug up from.

Oh well, not exactly how I want to take time off from work, but you do what you gotta do I guess. I am starting to feel a bit better and the swelling is going down, so maybe tomorrow I will be feeling good enough to go back to the grind.

That really sucks buddy. I hope you feel better soon and your wife's surgery goes well. At least you will there for her the first critical days and then its the weekend. So hopefully for you, five days off.

I was sure that the Voodo doll my GF was playing with didn't have your name on it (it was supposed to say Blast or Bo), but I'll check again grin

Could it have been a vampire bite? Maybe they are trying to hijack you over to the Zombie Squad. Break out some of the meds. you have in your kits and get well.

Good luck and feel better. There's a bunch of 'bugs' going around here. Boss was out for a few days and a few buddies where off too with something different.

I'm probably not too far behind them, but trying to stay as healthy as possible. Don't want to bring home any nasty's with the wife being 21 weeks pregnant.

Unless the dog I got from the pound is vamprical, I don't see any bite marks anywhere other than fingers, but who knows. I am back at work today, feeling much better (the steroids must be doing their job).

As for comparing scars OBG, unless you got breast augmentation surgery done, I don't think there will be a good comparison.

On the bright side (for me anyways), is that she upgraded her implants to 500 grams per... so now I have even bigger puppies to snuggle with, once she heals up, heh heh heh...

Went from 36 Ds to 40 DD/E. Even if I did pay for them, it is still a nice little Christmas bonus.

She says this is the last time for this, so I guess this will be as big as they get. Kinda takes my mind off the pain in my neck, ho ho ho...

That would be 500 grams twice? Am I correct in remembering that a cubic centimeter of water/saline weighs a gram? I think we have just solved the "where do you carry your last ditch PSK" question. Forget the necklaces, bracelets, and shoulder holster rigs: medical science is capable of providing us with PSK implants. I have seen ads for guys getting implants to improve muscle definition on their calves and thighs. The ETS forum crowd could opt for a sub-dermal DRPSK implant on one thigh, and a DR folder on the opposite forearm. The knife would need to be on the forearm so that the user could gnaw his way down to it for extraction. The personal locator beacon is another possibility...

My wife, a 34DDD (and she lost one cup size with each of her three kids) agrees with that...

Actually, I suspect a reduction will be in the future for her, once the glamour factor wears out. For now, she is more into the beautification enhancement than I am. Vanity can be a curse, but after losing all the weight it's the first time since her twenties she's had a figure, and if it makes her feel good, well, then she will make me feel good. Besides what else do I have to spend money on? My garage is already overflowing with survival gear and supplies. This is the gift that will keep on giving.

The look on her face when after she looks down, then back up with a big smile, is priceless. Yesterday we were walking around Costco and she was strutting worse than a full bloom peacock. She had her chest pushed out like she was directing traffic, I tells ya. One thing I learned about a woman, when they feel good about themselves, they like sharing a lot more.

Man, they told me this gluco-steroid would increase my appetite some, but it's like I skipped a couple meals today. I am glad that script is running out tomorrow.

Throat is still a problem, but a lot more managable than Tuesday night.

I still have no idea where I got this bug from. Probably off the light rail last week.
