I noticed while driving tonight that my gloves are 100% polyester. I'm not a fan of wearing polyester in anything transportation related (planes, trains, automobiles, etc ).

Is there a good wool based glove out there?

I'm also looking for reflective orange gloves, and was hoping someone had a local source in the Connecticut area that sold good reflective orange gloves. Has to be orange, because I have a bright lime green jacket.

Due to the risk of fire maybe? When flying I always try and wear natural fibers (cotton, leather, silk) rather than synthetics.

There are several companies that produce "reasonably priced" fire resistant clothing including gloves. Just Google search "fire resistant clothing".

Back in the late 70s the Navy came up with the bright idea of switching the utility uniform (formerly called dungarees) to all synthetic (including the socks, pants, shirt, and coat). After a few unfortunate years of firefighting experience, they realized their mistake and switched back. Not fun fighting a mainspace fire and having your duds suddenly start melting into you.

Nonetheless, I still prefer to travel with synthetics. I have become accustomed to the extra comfort they afford me, especially since I've been spending so much time in the heat.

Now that I am back in the cold zone, I am wearing more natural materials, like cotton, wool, and skins. I think the best natural clothing for fire resistance has got to be leather by far. It can take an awful lot of abuse, and doesn't burn worth a darn, unless it is impregnated with oil or wax (burned up a good pair of boots trying to water proof them next to the fire one time)

Thanks for the input.

The reason was for the risk of fire. I just looked at my nice "wool" jacket, and it's only 70% wool shell, 100% polyester lining and fill. Nice. Maybe this is a good excuse to get a leather jacket.

Do you want "work" gloves, or "driving" gloves? For driving, or light work, I still have a couple pair of GI Nomex flight gloves, one in the green/grey issue, the other all black (used to wear them in uniform). Pretty good dexterity, pretty good warmth, real good fire protection. If you want orange, just google "orange nomex gloves," you will find more than you ever imagined...

OBG, I guess I wasn't clear on what I wanted! I was looking for 2 sets of gloves. One for driving and could be any color, but orange would probably be distracting to other drivers.

The other pair of gloves was for volunteer work I do, and I already have a bright lime green jacket, and I wanted orange gloves that would stand out from the green jacket.

I was looking for a physical store that has orange work gloves so I can browse different options, if available.

Most large hardware stores have a pretty good selection of gloves to try on...
