While this last travel had taught me another lesson, and that was to bring bigger mosquito net. I had brought a smaller net and while me and the misses were sleeping the little critters would tag me when I rolled over against the net. Having that said, I ordered and got in the mail a Manila Travelers No-See-Um 4 Point Bed Canopy/Mosquito Net. I set this up and used command strips from home depo so it keeps from putting holes in the wall and leaves no trace behind. This gives the misses and I plenty of room while sleeping and is worth the money spent by getting a good night sleep and reduce the chances of getting diseases from mosquitoes and ticks. It's one of those investment things when doing travel with two people and size is not an issue. I can easily get it squeezed down and put it in my checked luggage and have plenty or room for other things for international travel. The net holes are extremely small to even keep the No Seeums out.

Mosquito netting is good stuff to have around.

Repellents are okay but they wear off, they are messy and none of them feel or taste great. Wear a repellent for a time and it gets on everything. Before too long it starts stinging your eyes, gets on the cookware and around the mouth of the water bottle. Yuck.

Mosquito nets are a good alternative. For years I have carried the head nets. Wear a boonie hat and ahead net over it and it goes a long way toward avoiding the pesky critters without having to slather on the bug juice.

A larger net propped up over the sleeping bag makes life in the outdoors a lot easier.

Mosquitoes are likely to be a big issue now that Fay has moved on leaving the southeast extremely well watered. Give it a few days for the mosquitoes to hatch out and you may be seeing people getting carried off by the swarms.

Nice net and great idea with the 3M hooks! One of the worst sounds in life, the dreaded, high-pitched whine of a mosquito around your ear sizing up the tastiest parts of your body. However, if you don't have a net, a good fan breeze (directly on you) works well too.

I have one in my BOB. I also have 2 cans of deet. I also have bug screens on my tent.

It's not just the skeeters that will 'bug' you. I can't seem to be outside more than 5 minutes without something bouncing off my head.

I wish I had one of those when I was stationed in Panama. But then, those transparent roaches would crawl under, and the itty bitty sand fleas would probably fit thru the net. For sure that guys pet boa would find its way in, no matter what...

OldBaldGuy, this one will stop the sand fleas but if a snake wants to get in, I may be in trouble unless I tuck it in like you do sheets. It's a huge net and I set it up in the house to play with it to get it ready for trips down the road and the room it gives you inside is just awesome. It's definitely a big net.

LED, I got the idea off another forum about the 3M hooks and experimented on the walls at the house. It supports the net with no problems and it left no marks on the wife's new painted walls. (She was gone when I tested it, she would have killed me if she caught me experimenting on her new painted walls.)

Ah, sand fleas. Who says mother nature doesn't have a sense of humor?
