A few years ago I bought a used US military bivy bag (Gore-tex). Upon taking it in the bathtub, I found that a few small areas of repair were leaking (all on the underside of the bivy bag) The problem seems to be that the repaired areas' seams were leaking.

Is there any good way to repair this? I've heard that you can melt duct tape with an iron to make a good seal. Also, aren't there Gor-Tex patches I could throw over the repair patches? Would either of these methods make the bag waterproof again?

Thanks!

Find it at dive shops and fishing stores for repairing
waders etc. Works on both Goretex and Urethane.

We get issued these and they are designed specifically for Gore- tex. It has a bunch of different sized and shaped gore-tex patches that peel off and stick over a tear or hole. It also has a small tube of sealant designed for seams. I don't know what they cost as I get them free from work but they are about as good as it gets. If you search for gore-tex rip kit on Google you will find them.
