If you think you can "ride it out" when ordered to evacuate, watch this:

That is incredibly horrific! Its chilling impression that he is talking directly to us for posterity sake; for a vicarious lesson as it were. Its interesting to hear his last quote "If they say run, you better run, don't be a fool like me".

I live near a flood prone area also reliant on levees. I guess I need to add a boat and a ladder to my apartment building roof for my prep kit. I'd be lucky to just grab the pets, the BOB and get to the roof in 3 minutes. Guess I better make bug out drills a part of prep too.

They must have been living in a bathtub neighborhood. In the area of the Tenet Hospital, the water was said to be rising one foot/hour.

On second thought that must be storm surge from Lake Vaughn north of that area according to the narrator?

When things get that its always a bad choice to stay, I have a chain ladder and also a boat, I don't live in a flood area but it pays to be prepared, and too make up your mind before its to late to get out.

Hmm, entertaining and informative.

The snakes issue is a bit surprising. Makes sense though, if you think about it. All the creeping nastys are gonna wanna go somewhere to dry out and get out of that wind.

High ground may not be such a good thing in a big storm either. Lightning strikes would be more likely, and the wind will be worse for sure.

Yet another argument for me to build a fortress, wherever I finally end up. Oh yeah, don't forget about that check valve on the sewer feed.
