Just to derail the topic slightly, am I the only one who has some thing of a reputation for, shall we say, being resourceful?

I ask, because as some of you have probably heard, we are having a spot of bother with the weather in the U.K. at the moment. The warehouse I work in was flooded. Second time it has happened. First time was when one of my colleges managed to decapitate a main pipe for the sprinkler system. Which the pump house read as a fire when the system pressure dropped. With predictable results. 4" of water in less than 2 min's. And rising. we wound up with just under 6". Even with it flowing out of all the doors. We had to move quite a lot of stock VERY quickly. Unlike some of my colleges I had the common to put plastic bags over my boots. Just by way of keeping my feet dry. And warm. I am still getting abuse about it two years later. It's not my fault that some of my workmates are too thick to pour p...... out of a boot.
The whole event has become known as The Great Flood.

This time round it was the weather. I had the good fortune to be in a differant warehouse, up hill. Didn't know about it untill after. However one of the resident wit's wanders up to me the next day and observes that he was some what surprised by my absence. He was expecting me to sail past him on a raft that I had wipped up out of a pallet, some plastic sheeting and some tape.......... blush

Now had there been Office Totty trapped by the rising waters..... smirk

I know Teacher, but some of these things have come in handy from time to time. I've had to use the lighter more frequently than I thought, the light and compass,tweezers,gerber,usb drives,keys,nail clipper and lock pick I use actually quite a lot. Really the whistle and the ferro rods I don't really use. And the beauty of carrying all this stuff in your pocket is it makes a great backup boat anchor for a big boat. smile

Where did you get such a nice lockpick tool?

Mine is not that impressive and yet incomplete. I have much more in my ScotteVest pockets though. Sorry for the image quality, no good camera at hands.

1 Colibri turbo lighter (yes, I'm a smoker);
1 Peanut lighter with 1 ft duct tape (sealed) as a reserve;
1 LM squirt P4 multitool (pliers);
1 whistle;
1 airtight container (not sure what to put in it yet);
1 Dermatone lip balm +23 SPF sunscreen;
1.5 ft of paracord (lanyard);
1 Photon X-light;
1 carabiner;
+some keys.

And you probably know that blue thing at the center - it's the key-rings easy-release thing. I have one in my vest and one in my jeans pocket. So I'm often reconfiguring the things I'm carying around to have the more relevant of them closer at hands, or to reduce the bulk.

Nice rig you got Alex, I got the knife pick here. I use it allot at work with people always locking keys in toolboxes or locking a door behind them with there keys still in the room. A definite asset.

Well, I'll try to get everything...

1.)Wallet, which contains -
Spare car key
$20 Emergency Money
Victorinox Swisscard w/ extra razor blade taped to it, and sewing needles inside with the nail file
Emergency phone numbers/contacts

2.)Cell Phone
3.)Assorted keys, including home, car, padlocks, and even a handcuff key, all with broken off multitool attachment to the keychain
4.)Victorinox Swisstool Spirit
5.)CRKT folder (forgot what kind, but it's got that new locking system, forgot what that was too)
6.)Bandanas (2-3 in back pocket)
7.)Assorted cord, some braided to store extra (in other back pocket)
8.)Any one of my "Survival Tubes" (usually made from empty Airborne tubes), which contain any/all of the following -
Small Classic SD SAK or Leatherman Micra
Sparklite
Cottonballs
Safety Pins
Sewing thread
Strike-anywhere matches
Trick re-lighting birthday candles
small compass
other sewing needles
9.) Inova X5 flashlight
and finally...
10.) The gray matter between my ears which the Almighty has bestowed upon me and for which I am thankful for each and every day, even though I don't probably mention that as often as the big man upstairs likes...

You notice everyone else has a flashlight in their kit? Try getting anywhere in a strong wind with your bic and matches. If I could carry only one surivival item it would be a flashlight.
