Compact (Fire) Escape Hood / Mask ?

For years my go to fire/ smoke/ germs/ gas compact escape mask has been the XCaper mask ,teamed with waterproof swim googles. A compact package to keep in my EDC bag to aid in emergency exit from a burning building, smoke filled tunnel , gas leak or terror attack. Not perfect, but affordable, compact and with a decent shelf life.

But it seems that XCaper is exiting the field or so it seems to me. So what is an acceptable solution . Replacement must shield from CO, ,formaldehyde, germs, smoke and particulates, radioactive particles is a plus, but not a necessity. Must be effective for about 20 minutes, to insure sake escape time. .Must be light and compact, fit over a short beard. Covering glasses if it’s a hood.. Price under $100 preferable, but not a deal breaker.

I’ve been browsing the internet and find no s” standard” to measure performance. Lots of product, but little solid facts , which are confirmavle re performance. Most don’t block or absorb CO. Anyone have any reliable suggestions or articles to give solid pros and cons on the myriad choices?

I was going to recommend this until I saw they only have one left. I don't know how many you need.

While this may not be exactly what you are looking for - I've used the Sabre ReadiMask product. You can find them on ebay, sometimes on Amazon, with police equipment vendors and direct from the ReadiMask site. https://readimask.com/professional/

I got a dozen of them when I retired and all this current pandemic panic set in. I have not had to use them for that (yet) but will feel a lot better with it then the "surgical" ear loop mask some people (badly) wear when going out. It is rated by the manufacturing company for smoke... but YMMV.

I saw Doug's post and that looks to be a "better" product by far for fire/smoke incidents.

It looks to me like the SABRE Redimask doesn’t protect against CO. That would be my top requirement for a high-rise fire escape mask.

but is focused on fire escape. Respirators are tailored to individual contaminants and finding the ONE respirator to rule them all only gets you a SCBA. Not very convenient if you ask me. Take a look through the MSA website at the variety of options and you will quickly see that there are something like 10 different cartridge categories that span the gamut of pollutants. They are certified by either OSHA or NIOSH. No affiliation.
